One of the famous State University in the U.S.A is the University of Central Missouri (UCM). It is situated in Warrensburg, Missouri. The main objective of this University is, “LEARNING TO GREATER DEGREE”. The present president of this University is Roger Best, and the provost (means the head of the academic administrator) of this University is Mike Godard.
A huge number of under-graduate, post-graduate courses are available at this University. Some pre-professional programs, teacher certification programs are also available at this University. The University sports team has also an official name. For men it is Mules and for women it is Jennies. Mo the Mule is the name of the official Mascot of this University. All the campuses of this University are cardinal and black.
The University sports association is affiliated by NCAA (National College Athletic Association) in division II level and also by MIAA (Mid America Inter-mediate Athletic Association).

History
In 1871, by name as Normal School No.2, it was established. After 1972, the name was changed as Central Missouri State University. And finally, in 2006, the name changed as the University of Central Missouri.

- This University has the part of the Great Internet Mersenne Prime Search project (GIMSP). These projects are the projects of those volunteers who use freely available software to search for Mersenne Prime Number ( the prime number that is one less than a power of two).
Other Facilities
Nearly about 200 student organizations with cultural, relational, academic, special interest club, and association. Not only that, but there are also 20 sports to compete in, a bowling alley, free movie nights on campus, and movie theatre in the student union.
- This University is also home to the Greek Organizations. The GAMMA (Greeks Advocating Mature Management of Alcohol) promotes alcohol awareness in the University campus. Many Sorority and Fraternity chapters are part of this. Likewise: Farm-house, Delta-chi, Alpha-Tau-omega are the part of Fraternity chapters and Alpha-pi, Delta-Zeta, Sigma-kappa are the part of Sorority chapters.

Sports
UCM sport’s division includes baseball, women’s bowling, golf, women’s soccer, track, cross country, volleyball, basketball, and wrestling.
Library
UCM has its library named The James C. Kirkpatrick Library (JCKL). In 1999, it was established by the former secretary of State James C. Kirkpatrick. At present, Mel Carnahan is the Governor of Missouri as well as the head of this library.
