The University of British Columbia is one of the oldest universities in Canada and was established in the year 1908. The University of British Columbia has two campuses – one in Vancouver and one in Okanagan valley with both campuses offering a large variety of undergraduate, postgraduate, and short courses.

As the University of British Columbia ranks among the top 40 universities across the world, the university has competitive admission requirements. For international students, the admission applications are online and it starts in early September and closes in mid-January. University of British Columbia requirements

All post-graduate programs at the University of British Columbia require all students to obtain a minimum overall average of 76% or B+ range. Specific requirements may also be present for different courses. 

For Undergraduate Programs

  • Students are required to score a minimum of 85% aggregate in XII grade in the relevant stream for enrollment to an undergraduate degree program. 
  • English Language Proficiency Score of either:

IELTS – a score of 6.5 with a minimum of 6 bands in each section is required.

PTE Academic – a minimum score of 65 overall along with a minimum of 60 in each section.

TOEFL – a minimum score of 90 overall along with a minimum of 22 in each section. 

For Graduate Programs

  • Students are required to score a minimum of 65% aggregate or a CGPA of 8 on a 10 – point scale. 
  • English Language Proficiency Score of:

IELTS: minimum 6.5 overall with a minimum of 6 bands in each section.

PTE Academic: minimum score of 65 overall with a minimum of 60 in each subject.

TOEFL: minimum total score of 90 with a minimum 22 in listening and reading and a minimum of 21 in speaking and writing.

A minimum score of 7.0 is required for IELTS to meet the English proficiency benchmark that the University of British Columbia has set for all its international students.

University of British Columbia MBA

The MBA program from the University of British Columbia is a 16-month full-time degree offered by the Sauder’s Robert H. Lee Graduate School. The main aim of the program is to help the students grow through experiential learning, gain confidence to innovate on the world stage and get started on their professional and personal transformation. 

Students have an option of choosing specialized courses tailed to their preferred career track along with the other integrative business courses. They are provided with a chance to undertake an internship or industry project in the summer.

The three different MBA programs at the University of British Columbia are as follows:

University of British Columbia MBA fees

Students have to pay an application fee of $148.50 to apply for the MBA course at the University of British Columbia. The total fee for an international student studying MBA would come up to $86,592.08 split across 3 installments. An initial deposit of $50,000 is also to be made. Other student expenses would approximately come up to $1,052.34 per year.

University of British Columbia MBA requirements

The requirements for applying to all three of the courses are as follows:

  • A minimum three- or four-year undergraduate degree with an average 76% or B+ from a recognized institution 
  • Transcripts, translations, and degree certificates have to be mailed directly to the university.
  • Either one of the following:
  • 550 GMAT or 155 GRE scores
  • IELTS score of minimum 7.0
  • Minimum 2 years of work experience is required post-graduation from bachelor’s degree

The University of British Columbia has a Master of Science program in Computer Science that is for a duration of 2 years.
