Previously known as the University of Ontario Institute of Technology, the Ontario Institute of Technology is an institution that is run by the government, continuously working in the field of research and higher studies and education in Oshawa, Ontario. The Ontario Institute of Technology was founded in the year 2002.
However, the Institute got its new name in March 2019. Also, the Institute has affiliations from the International Association of Universities, Canadian Research libraries, University of Canada, and the Canadian Bureau for International Education. Moreover, the University is also associated with the council of Ontario Universities and the Ontario University athletics.
The main campus of the Ontario Institute of Technology has a land area spread over 4000 acres in the northern part of Oshawa city, which is also known as the north campus. The Ontario Institute of Technology also has a branch campus known as the Downtown campus.
The main campus comes with numerous buildings and also has high tech learning facilities residences for both faculties and students, recreation spaces, parking areas, and student learning facilities as well. Not to mention the Institute has top-notch research facilities, which include more than 90 super-specialized laboratories. With a great research framework, it comes with a library that possesses a collection of journals, research guides, databases, and other sources that can be accessed and used by both the faculties and the students.
The Recreation centers that are made available on the main campus comes with a flex gym, fieldhouse, and several mental health support facilities. The campus also comes with several cafes and delicious restaurants and canteens to serve the food appetite of both the faculties and the students. Again the Institute provides housing and residential facilities to both boys and girls inside the main campus itself. Other facilities that are available on the campus includes childcare center, health center, and IT services.
The academic culture at the Ontario Institute of Technology comes seven departments, each having its focus on different subject areas. It extends its career education at the undergraduate, postgraduate and Ph.D. levels. The Ontario Institute of Technology also offers professional programs in business, health care services, social sciences, and Information Technology as well.
Again, the University also extends its reach of education by providing online resources on various disciplines to the students to facilitate flexible learning and for mainly working professionals. The Ontario Institute of Technology also holds its collaborations with many other companies and several government organizations that, in turn, provide various types of internships to the deserving students.
At present, it holds about 15000 students in its main campus enrolled in various programs at the Ontario Institute of Technology. For this many amounts of students, the University has about 2500 faculty and supporting members who help in providing quality education to the students.
Again, the Ontario Institute of Technology has a vast alumni network spread over 20000 graduates all over the globe. This alumni list comes with very successful people who have done wonderful work in their fields and can show their bright colors to the society as well. The alumni include renowned leaders, lawyers, and IT professionals.
Furthermore, the alumni also conduct various types of events, which also acts as a link between the alumni and the current students that are enrolled in the Institute pursuing various courses in the Institution.
