It received university status in the year 1930, and was renamed by the name ‘Vytautas Magnus.’ In the year 1943 due to World War 2, the university was closed. The university later opened in 1946 with the name Kaunas Medical Institute and Kaunas Polytechnic Institute (KPI), which was renamed by the name Kaunas University of Technology.
