Christ University was founded in the year 1969 Bangalore, Karnataka. It was initially founded as Christ College and it is now under the control of the priests of the Catholic religious order, Carmelites of Mary Immaculate(CMI). It was declared as a “Deemed to be University” in 2008 by the UGC. Christ University has got its accreditation of A-grade by National Assessment and Accreditation Council in 2016.

Campus

Christ University has the most beautiful campus. The Bangalore Urban Arts Commission has given the Best Institutional Buildings and Garden award to Christ University. The main campus which is located in Bangalore is about 25 acres and also it is a part of 100-acre Dharamaram College Campus. It is located on the Hosur road extension NH 7. Christ University campus is a zero-waste campus and it has its own recycling technology to recycle the waste and used papers.

Administration

The current chancellor of the university is George Edayadiyil and the vice-chancellor of the university is Dr. Fr Abraham. The university has more than 950 staff and more than 18,535 students including the undergraduates of about 14,500 and the postgraduates of about 4,035. The university has also got foreign students of about 700 from 58 countries.

Academics

Christ University offers recognized undergraduate, postgraduate and research programs in the field of Humanities, Social Sciences, Sciences, Law, Engineering, Business Administration, Commerce, and Management and also the professional courses such as Business Management, Computer Application, Hotel Management, Mass Communication, Social Work, Engineering and Tourism.

To be more precise, Christ University provides 46 undergraduate programs in the aforementioned fields and also 47 masters, 17 masters of Philosophy and 21 Ph.D. degree programs. According to the 2018 survey, about 1672 students have been placed in 131 organizations from different sectors.

Admission Process

The admission of Christ University is entirely based on the merit and the entrances conducted by the university. The entrances include Christ University Entrance Test for the UG & PG, Christ University Law Entrance Test for the Law Programs, CAT/ MAT/ CMAT/ XAT/ GMAT for the MBA, University-Based Entrance Test for M.Phil & Ph.D.

For 2020 admission, the application submission starts from December 8, 2019, and it will extend till April 4, 2020. The students will be selected based on their 10th and 12th examinations and also the score of respective entrance exams.
